Topic: 0.9.3 is released

The list looks small, but the amount of changed code is huge smile
I hope this makes it more stable than before, have fun !

New features:

  • Total new client/server network code, its a straight port from rtcwmp which is proven to be a lot more stable than what we currently had

  • Working pk3 autodownloading, thanks to the rtcwmp client server code

  • Knife throwing (yay!)

  • New sound code

  • added a new alias for the mp_quickmessage cmd: voicechat

Fixes:

  • 'attempts' in end level stats now shows the number of deaths of all players

  • if no more lives left wait a few seconds before restarting the map

  • new votesounds

  • tomb and escape1 one have fixed mapscripts, bugs should be gone

  • cvar security fixes, same for autodownload exploits

I think the new sound code is a bit shitty.

Previous one was good

Sounds had very good quality than current

previous one sounded much better (like default) , and this one sounds a bit interrupt , with something unknown noise ...

also ping shows incorrectly ,  like 3500 or 3700 in server browser sometimes

Important things to be fixed :

-Return old sound code
-fix fuckin not-opening door at xlabs
-fix incorret value of ping which often shows in serverbrowser (like 3500-3700)

Hello

I am a fanatic of Enemy Territory and runs a public server of it.

I'd really like to test this new game, but my question is:

" Are the required pk3s from the original RTCW CD-ROM still necessary ?"

I mean, am I obliged to buy the RTCW game to play it or run a server of it ?

Anyway, all videos/screenshots and the main "idea" of this COOP are really awsome, congratulations to work on our beloved Q3 engine xDDD

Oooops, just imagine my future BLACKOOPS server become popular, I do not want to have trouble with the law.
And I can buy it on eBay for 10€.

I just want to have explanations about the licensing/GPL etc ....

the pk3 files are copyrighted so you have to buy them, the exe/dll files (which we provide) are free

Why it is warez ?????

It is not a warez , it is simply clean client , thats all

it has no viruses , no adds , it is just clean game client only

We have no problems with it in Russia

RTCW is not like ET. Rtcw is property licensed meaning that you can't redistribute original game assets without breaking the license.

That being said, you can obtain rtcw all around the net - either on rtcw (mostly 1.0 communities) forums or by simply googling for rtcw game it self. As far as license goes, only but handful of people actually have original game, most just use pirate copies since game is so old it's generally not a problem...as well as it was always more relaxed when it came to running a server.

Now I hope I didn't break any rules with this post, if I did, then fretn will edit it. smile

yes but here in europe a copyright law exists, as my server is located in europe I am not allowed to spread copyrighted content (the rtcw pk3 files), which are warez

Isn't weapons mod just a skin pack? If so, just dump it in your main folder.

Note that in that case it will only work locally or on unpure servers..unless if servers have it on as well that is.

it is a skin pack and new sounds . (zzz_txtrs.pk3 , zzz_snds.pk3 )

I brought it in my Main folder , and there is no result .

Ingame it is all the same as it was.

It would be cool if you guys add support of custom .pk3 files.

If everyone wants to have their own skinpack for better looking design of game , why not?

can you rename these pk3's to something like

aaaa_txtrs.pk3 (swap the zzz for aaa)

its because I changed the pk3 loading order a bit, and its possible that they are sort of ignored because they are loaded last this way

we support custom pk3's, but if a server owner decides that you only can use the pk3's he's using then you should live with it smile
