How a Lower Arm Angle Affected Jhoan Duran

By most metrics,  and the eye test,  Twins reliever Jhoan Duran was not as effective in 2024 as he had been. His 3.64 ERA,  1.66 win probability addedoff his fastball last season,  and the average exit velocity of those batted balls was 87.6 mph,  a lower mark than either of the past two seasons. To that point,  the expected batted average and slugging percentage against Durans express last season were both slightly better than in 2023. At the same time Christian Vazquez Jersey,  opposing hitters whiffed on 36.1% of their swings against Durans fastball last season,  which was a touch better than 2023s 35.7% mark and significantly better than 2022s 26.3%.
